Our Story

We are Michele and Nicola, two brothers from Calabria in southern Italy, where we grew up among olive trees and in our mother’s kitchen. The pure flavours, the simplicity and the love that went into every meal at home still form the foundation of everything we do today. Even the olive oil our father produces in Calabria is still used in our kitchen.

Our dream to share that way of cooking with others began in Delft. Years ago, by the water, we opened our first Il Peperoncino: a place where we could bring our Calabrian roots, energy and traditions to life.

In 2024, that dream grew further and we opened our second location in The Hague, right in the heart of the Statenkwartier. Here, we combine the same warmth and Italian hospitality with the elegant atmosphere of the neighbourhood. If you see us working together, you’ll recognise it instantly: the fast Italian back and forth, the passion, the liveliness that will never change.

And something special: the pepper in our logo has the exact shape of our island in Calabria. A small piece of home that travels with us wherever we cook.
